Tax residency in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina has no state-level personal income tax; individual residency is determined separately by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, and the Brčko District. In each jurisdiction, an individual is treated as a resident if they have domicile/permanent residence or a habitual abode there, or if their center of vital personal and economic interests is located there; alternatively, physical presence of at least 183 days establishes residence (generally counted in the tax year, and in the Federation also by reference to any 12‑month period that begins or ends in the tax year). Individuals assigned abroad in the service of Bosnia and Herzegovina or the relevant entity/district (including diplomatic and consular missions) remain residents of the jurisdiction of prior residence during such assignment. An individual who does not satisfy any of these tests is a non-resident of that jurisdiction.
