Tax residency in Guernsey
For each calendar year, an individual is classified as principally resident, solely resident, resident only, or non-resident under statutory day-count tests. An individual is principally resident if present in Guernsey for 182 days or more in the year, or if present in Guernsey for 91 days or more in the year and either has a permanent place of abode in Guernsey or has been present in Guernsey for an aggregate of 730 days or more in the four immediately preceding years. An individual is resident (but not principally resident) if present in Guernsey for 91 days or more in the year, or if present in Guernsey for 35 days or more in the year and for an aggregate of 365 days or more in the four immediately preceding years. Among such residents, the individual is solely resident if not present in any other jurisdiction for 91 days or more in the year; otherwise the individual is resident only. If none of these tests are met, the individual is non-resident.
