Tax residency in Central African Republic
An individual is treated as tax resident in the Central African Republic if they have their home (foyer) or principal place of abode (lieu de séjour principal) in the country, with a principal place of abode generally evidenced by physical presence of more than 183 days during the calendar year; or if they carry on a professional activity in the Central African Republic, whether salaried or not, unless that activity is shown to be merely ancillary; or if the center of their economic interests is in the Central African Republic. Civil servants and other public agents of the Central African Republic posted abroad are deemed resident if they are not subject in the host state to a personal tax on all of their income. Nationality is not determinative. Where dual residence arises, applicable tax treaties resolve residence by tie‑breaker criteria (permanent home, center of vital interests, habitual abode, nationality, and mutual agreement if required).
