Tax residency in Martinique
For personal income tax purposes, Martinique forms part of France, and an individual is treated as resident of France (including Martinique) if any one of the following independent tests is met: their home (foyer) or principal place of abode is in France (the foyer being the place where the person habitually lives and, where applicable, where the spouse/partner and dependent children ordinarily reside); their principal place of stay is in France, which is generally the case if they are present in France for more than 183 days in the calendar year or, if present fewer days, they spend more time in France than in any other single country; they carry on a professional activity in France as their main activity (salaried or self‑employed), unless merely ancillary; or the center of their economic interests is in France (for example, the location of main investments, the place from which business is managed, or the principal source of income). For these purposes, days spent and connections in any part of France, including Martinique and the other overseas departments, are treated as in France.
